APAER -
Our philanthropic activities aim primarily at pre-K and primary school students in rural schools in all the provinces of the Argentina Republic, with no political, economical, religious or racial distinction.
Our work focuses on solving different problems: the drop-out rate, malnutrition, the physical deterioration of school buildings, ecological damage, the lack of curricular updating that affects rural teachers, the absence of communication between teachers who share the same environments uprooting as a consequence of unemployment and the children's health in the scholastic environment.
INSTITUTIONAL PROJECTS
PATRONAGE OF SCHOOLS
We help supply all kind of basic necessities (footwear, clothing, school supplies, books, food, etc.), sustaining the children towards completing their primary level education and the teachers fulfilling their pedagogical mission.
PATRONAGE OF VEGETABLE GARDENS
Through planting fruit trees and forestation, we help to supply fresh food for the school children.
Workshops for labor training, based on projects presented by teachers, with the objective of developing skills with which pupils will be able to work in the future.
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES FOR TEACHERS
We collaborate with the process of permanent education for the rural teachers by providing the following courses:
- Mathematics
- Spanish Literature
- Nutrition
- Health care
- Language
- Argentine History
- Psicogenesis of Language
OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Over many years of uninterrupted work, we have helped to increase the attendance of children from rural areas to elementary schools. This was in part accomplished by a drop in school desertion in these areas thanks to the sponsorship system proposed, organized, and supported by our Association.
Some of our specific achievements are:
* Massive cooperation from the civilian population: More than 7,000 sponsors throughout the country work in partnership with our Association.
* Organization of a task force of volunteers: APAER trains volunteers in their specific job areas by means of different courses and seminars.
* Construction of new buildings and facilities: We helped build and inaugurated 35 new schools.
* Free Freight System: We proposed the implementation of a counter-destination scheme for commercial hauling companies willing to participate.
* Community activities: We support -via our network of sponsors- the construction, maintenance, and follow-up of greenhouses, market gardens, and sewing, textile, and carpentry classes.
* Cultural Activities: APAER edits and publishes different free instruction courses to take at home that benefit more than 3,600 teachers from different rural schools in contact with APAER.
